About Us DrPA has been operating in secure environments since 2014 providing General Practitioner services and we are now growing to provide a complete healthcare service at Campsfield House IRC by NHS England. This will be delivered directly or through a range of specialist partners who are experts in their field.  We deliver our services based on our ethos of CARE:   Compassionate care that is trauma informed and supportive Assurance that care is evidence-based & demonstrates high quality outcomes for our patients Respectful of people’s cultural and religious beliefs Equitable care that is in line with the community services   Campsfield House IRC Campsfield House IRC is a secure facility currently designed to accommodate up to 160 male residents in both single and dual occupancy rooms. The centre houses a combination of time-served foreign national offenders and immigration offenders while the Home Office arranges their removal from the UK.   Residents are not permitted to leave the centre or access the local area. Consequently, recreational, educational, healthcare, living, and faith-related facilities are provided entirely onsite.   The healthcare department provides a range of services including primary care, mental health, substance misuse, pharmacy, dental, optometry, physiotherapy, podiatry, and audiology delivered either by us or our specialist partners.   Join us at the beginning…Where possible, this role will be starting before the centre opens. During this period, you will be undertaking your company and centre induction, supporting setting up the department, helping where required, and generally supporting the service to go live as prepared as we can be.   Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced General Practitioner (GP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team within a secure environment. The role involves delivering high-quality primary care services to a diverse patient population. As a GP in a secure setting, you’ll play a vital role in improving health outcomes for individuals who may have complex health and social care needs. Your work will help reduce health inequalities and ensure continuity of care in a challenging but rewarding environment.       Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide full GP services including consultations, clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals.
  • Manage chronic diseases, acute presentations, and mental health conditions.
  • Contribute to the management of substance misuse and support detox pathways.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing staff, mental health professionals, pharmacists, and external healthcare providers.
  • Participate in clinical audits, risk assessments, and safeguarding processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive clinical records using the prison’s electronic health record system.
  • Take part in clinical governance activities and support continuous quality improvement.
Requirements: Essential:
  • Fully qualified GP with current GMC registration and licence to practise.
  • Experience in primary care, with sound clinical decision-making and patient management skills.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and healthcare delivery in secure environments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
  • Experience working in a secure healthcare environment, secure units, or with vulnerable populations.
  • Additional qualifications in substance misuse, mental health, or sexual health.
  • Knowledge of relevant NHS and prison healthcare policies and procedures.

You will work in partnership with healthcare colleagues to share knowledge, skills and expertise ensuring a trusting, caring environment develops which supports colleagues and others in the team to continue their professional development. The Healthcare team will model a culture of compassion focused care, whilst demonstrating commitment and clinical competence. You will work closely with our team, partners and stakeholders collaboratively striving for continuous quality improvement and ensuring mental healthcare is provided effectively whilst maintaining records in accordance with DrPA governance policies.   Duties
  • Undertake and support with initial reception screening
  • Following the initial reception screen, if mental health issues are identified, complete a more in depth assessment develop treatment/interventions/ strategies to support the individual’s mental health needs using the appropriate evidence-based screening tools
  • If mental health issues escalate requiring additional specialist secondary care services work with the MDT and lead nurses to support the processes that are in place to meet the needs of the individual.
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to develop treatment /intervention options through the provision of supportive care plans
  • Be the named nurse for mental health issues and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic safe, clinically effective mental health care.
  • Have excellent written and communication skills ensuring mental healthcare records are developed, maintained and effectively communicated to the MDT.
  • Administer medications in accordance with DrPA agreed policies and guidance
  • With support from lead MH nurse, undertake risk assessments and take appropriate action if the individual presents with serious mental health concerns i.e. suicide, self-harm or injury to others.
  • Strong communication skills are paramount, ensuring individuals will be treated with respect and empathy at all times.
  • Work with the senior MH nurse to develop a mental health promotion program, visible from initial reception at the IRC to release and deportation, building a strategy for mental health resilience and wellbeing for both individuals and staff
  • Conduct reviews of individuals who are being supported via the ACDT process.

The duties will vary depending on the needs of the department with the day’s priorities agreed with the Head of Healthcare and Senior Clinical Lead.  This may be processing patient referrals, making appointments, answering the phone, updating our clinical system (Systm1) , preparing for or taking notes at a meeting, ordering supplies, filing, photocopying, the list goes on!   Duties
  • Support the healthcare department deliver a high-quality experience such as
    • Making patient appointments ensuring the clinic list is correct and the patient is advised of their appointment
    • Processing referrals to local hospitals or services and following up to ensure the referral has been received and being processed
    • Updating S1 patient records e.g. scanning documents to the correct record and ensuring they are appropriately coded (training provided)
  • Update and maintain databases e.g. optician, dentist, and admissions
  • Arrange meetings including inviting attendees, type up the agenda and prepare any documents, take minutes / actions / minutes (with training),
  • Provide day to day administrative support to the head of healthcare, and senior clinical lead as required. g. photocopying, booking rooms, etc.
  • Archiving – sending and receiving of written notes, where necessary
  • Making up of books for nursing staff, e.g. shift planner, tick sheets, and so on
  • Place orders with suppliers ensuring stock levels are adequately maintained
  • Answer the phone in a polite and friendly way ensuring any messages or passed on or any agreed actions are completed
  • Support visitors and contractors to the healthcare department through
    • Booking gate passes, where required
    • Efficiently collecting and escorting visitors/contractors to the healthcare department from/to reception and other departments within the site, as required

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with DrPA you will be the face of our patient's journey with Health
and Justice. Your days will be varied and will include working with the Healthcare team to provide high
quality and evidence-based nursing for patients. This will involve

As the ideal candidate, you will have the following:
- Registered Nurse – Adult, Mental Health with current NMC registration or Registered Paramedic
with current HCPC registration
- Independent/supplementary prescriber qualification
- MSc in Advanced Practice
- Experience working autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner following best practice
guidance and identifying risk to patients through sound use of clinical expertise
- Experience demonstrating high levels of clinical expertise in decision making and judgment,
enabling the development, monitoring and improvement of standard of care through
supervision, clinical practice, audit, research, education and professional leadership
- Knowledge of the statutory requirements for the safeguarding of adults and children
- Willing to be innovative and embrace learning through continued professional development and
the practical application of new skills in the workplace

About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated Remote General Practitioner (GP) to support prison healthcare services by delivering high-quality medical assessments for individuals. As a New Reception GP, you will play a critical role in conducting initial health screenings and clinical triage remotely, ensuring that vulnerable individuals receive timely and appropriate care upon entry into the prison system.

This role is entirely remote but requires familiarity with the specific needs of prison populations and NHS pathways within the secure estate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive remote health assessments for newly received prisoners.
  • Identify immediate clinical concerns (e.g., withdrawal risks, mental health needs, ongoing treatments).
  • Triage and prioritize follow-up care or urgent referrals to on-site clinicians or external services.
  • Work closely with on-site healthcare teams, prison staff, and specialist services.
  • Ensure accurate, secure documentation in line with NHS and HMPPS standards.
  • Provide clinical input into care planning for new arrivals, including safeguarding and continuity of care.

Requirements:

Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing new service aimed at improving the well-being and psychological functioning of young people at Oakhill STC. The service provides weekly individual and group therapy sessions to young people aged 12 to 18 years of age with an offending history. You will utilise a variety of psychological interventions for both the young person and family members including the SECURE STAIRS framework.

This is an opportunity to provide specialised Occupational Therapy (OT) interventions within the SECURE STAIRS framework - a joint partnership service between Health and the secure estate for the young people. SECURE STAIRS work within a psychological, trauma-informed framework to aid the transitioning of young people to prison/secure hospitals from community settings, with the MDT providing a holistic approach to recovery.

The role

The role involves managing a caseload of service users with complex needs, using evidence based/service user centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
As part of the role as a lead clinician, you will be responsible for assessment and completion of comprehensive formulation of risk and treatment needs. Within the service, you will work alongside the MDT in the development and delivery of multi-modal group and 1:1 therapeutic intervention as well as provide specialist assessments to those being transferred to the secure training facility as required. You will also provide support, supervision and leadership within the MDT. You will also hold a caseload of patients with varying difficulties including complete health and social care needs responding effectively to the changing needs of the patient caseload.

Qualifications

HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.

Sensory trained (e.g. Ayres Sensory Integration trained)

Experience in conducting diagnostic neurodevelopmental/ specialist developmental assessments with children and young people.

Experience working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders or mental health difficulties in a clinical setting.

Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and appropriate assessment tools for autism and ADHD.

Knowledge of differential diagnosis.

Ideally ADOS-2/ ADI-R trained.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Experience in report writing and record keeping.

Additional qualifications in relevant areas of autism and/ or ADHD.

Clinical Supervision integral to the role.

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.

Overview

The post holder will be responsible for managing the mental health team on site, and deputising for the Head of Healthcare to oversee the wider Healthcare team during absence.

The post holder will be expected to provide effective leadership for a multi-disciplinary clinical team, providing a high-quality service within the resources available.

The post holder will be expected to ensure the development of services that are comprehensive, flexible and promote a culture of young people’s involvement at every stage of the care pathway.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

The post holder will be expected to coordinate and lead team functioning with particular focus on:

  • To be responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of quality mental health care for patients.
  • To support the delivery of SECURE STAIRS with the Operator
  • Performance monitoring and management including engaging with commissioners and service evaluators as required
  • Line management and supervision of staff, including ensuring staff are supported to achieve a high standard of practice via regular supervision, support meetings and personal development
  • To ensure appropriate professional supervision arrangement are in place
  • To actively manage a small caseload of complex patients
  • To ensure that the team provides effective and evidence-based interventions which are guided by national, local and professional standards.
  • Ensure that the team functions in line with the agreed operational policy
  • Co-ordinate recruitment and selection of staff within the team, leading on decisions
  • Respond to serious untoward incidents as appropriate and support any subsequent investigation
  • Ensure complaints are investigated fully, within the time limits ensuring a proactive approach is standard and in accordance with policies
  • To ensure staff are supported to achieve a high standard of practice via regular supervision, support meetings and personal development and have access to the necessary professional training
  • To ensure robust service to careers, including assessment and support
  • Ensure that job plans are developed, are reflective of service needs and are regularly reviewed and adjusted to meet the demands of the service

Performance Management:

Essential

  • Relevant professional qualification (RMN, Social Worker), educated to degree, masters level or have other relevant experience)
  • Either community mental health experience or offender healthcare experience is essential.
  • Significant experience of and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice in variable settings
  • Experience of providing professional support/supervision and motivation of staff
  • Understanding of Health and Social Care Governance Experience of managing staff and liaising with other agencies
  • Proven commitments to service user involvement and carer involvement.

  • Knowledge of the key drivers behind community mental health care
